The 3-3-3 Rule

Grounding technique that helps interrupt anxious thoughts by redirecting your child's attention to the present moment

Age
Works well for children ages 7 and up, though younger kids can practice the steps with a grown-up's guidance

When to Practice
Best learned during a calm moment. Practice  it together at bedtime or on a walk so that transitioning to this when needed is simple.

When to Use
Reach for it anytime anxiety spikes - before a test, during a big transition, at drop-off, or whenever worry starts to take over.

The 'move' step comes in two forms — hand open-and-close, or rock-paper-scissors — so your child can pick what feels natural.
